Top PR Campaigns: Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola is a household name, and a brand widely recognized for the top-quality of their public relations and marketing campaigns. With over 100 years of advertising history under their belt, Coke has led the market in creative marketing with such high quality content that it's very hard to choose their best campaign. So, we've chosen their top 3.

Hilltop (1971)

Of course, we need to kick off our list with the most iconic Coca-Cola ad. This 1971 spot depicted a diverse band of people gathering on a hilltop, singing together. It featured The New Seeker's track, 'I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing', which instantly became synonyms with the Coke brand. The campaign is widely familiar, even to younger generations.

Share a Coke (2011)

Although this campaign originally piloted in Australia with the objective of driving brand awareness among young consumers, Coca-Cola's 'Share a coke' ad campaign quickly grew to become one of the brand's most recognizable international campaigns around the world.

The brand played off their image of familiarity and friendship to create a campaign that brought people together. But the best way to measure the success of this campaign is by considering the number of "spin-off" campaigns it inspired, including specially designed twist tops that required another bottle to open them.

The World's Cup (2014)

This campaign was Coca-Cola's biggest marketing campaign to date. The brand invited the world to celebrate football —or soccer— as a force for social good. Through its "The World's Cup" campaign, The Coca-Cola Co. promoted participation, empowerment and conversation surrounding the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil with the goal of delivering the most accessible and inclusive international football championship event ever.

"The World's Cup" was brought to life through a number of key elements, including a "One World, One Game" TV spot and digital film; "Where Will Happiness Strike Next" documentary-style short films; an official music anthem, and a photomosaic Happiness Flag for the campaign. Additionally, they sponsored a FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour.

Coca-Cola has had a long history of high-quality campaigns, and we can't wait to see what they do next! Do you have a favorite campaign? Drop it in the comments below. ⬇️
